Magazine Limits: Do They Actually Matter?

bakelite magazines

One of the common things that gun control advocates like to point to as a “reasonable” gun control is a limit on magazine capacity. After all who really needs thirty rounds in their AR? Magazine capacity does not have any real world bearing on how dangerous a firearm can be in the hands of someone who intends to do harm. Below I have linked to a video with Ken Campbell, Sheriff of Boon County, IN.

The main point of the video is this, any limit on magazine capacity can be easily overcome using multiple magazines or firearms. It is not impossible or even all that impractical to carry two, three, four, or even five additional magazines and overcome the limits of a single magazine.

Secondly, any interruption in firing by a bad guy is simply not enough time for an unarmed good guy to tackle or incapacity a bad guy with a gun.

At the end of the day magazine restrictions do nothing but harm the defensive abilities of law-abiding citizens and the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

Do you live in a state that limits magazine capacity? What are your thoughts on this and other gun control issues?
